For more than twenty years, the EN 166 standard served as the basis for certifying eye protection products. It was recently replaced by the modernized and internationally harmonized EN ISO 16321 standard. Starting in November 2025, such products must be certified according to the new standard. Safety glasses and other eye and face protection products that were already certified under EN 166 will retain that status.
